We had not attended our lunch time fellowship as was usual but me and my friends had gone for an early lunch and we were now sitting on the grass at the front area of our offices. We had never done this before but for some reason we sat there.
I was facing the gate and I saw the gate keeper talking to a very odd looking woman. Her hair was disheveled, she had on a torn dress, was dirty and barefoot and her behavior was as that of a mentally disturbed woman. To my surprise the gatekeeper opened the gate and pointed to where we were sitting. The woman walked towards us. By now my friends were also looking at her. She looked frightened and worried.
'I was told that you were Christians and that you can help me' she said. We invited her to sit down. She had left the mental hospital the previous day and when she got home she found her children hungry and her mother who has been left with the children sick. Wambui for that was her name had walked quite a long way and had stopped at that particular gate to ask for help. The gate directed her to us saying we were Christians and therefore we should help.
We had a long talk with Wambui. Her husband had kicked her and the children out for another woman. Having lived a life of a middle class housewife, she had no means to support her children and there being no way she could seek legal advice and no social workers to help she had been forced to live in the slums with her mother. All this had been too much for her and had led to severe depression.
We prayed with Wambui and she accepted Jesus as her personal savior. We also gave her some money and arranged to visit her the following day. She was so moved by the love of God which God enabled us to show her that she could not stop crying. She went away crying and the gate keeper came to ask why we had to beat up the poor woman.
We had agreed that Wambui would come to meet us at the gate at lunch time but she came a bit early and as I was passing I saw a woman smile at me. She said 'don't you remember me?' .'I am Wambui' I could not believe my eyes. The woman in front of me was clean, wearing clean clothes, a clean scarf on her head and her face reflected such joy and peace. Jesus had transformed her! And she had a testimony too. As we were praying she said she felt something leave her head and now she was healed.
This is the God we serve, a life changing, situation changing, status changing and mountain moving GOD. I was amazed at the love Jesus showed Wambui. From a depressed, confused, rejected, poor and hungry woman to such a lovely woman. Oh! How I praised God and thanked him for making me and my friends vessels to be used by Him at that particular time for that particular purpose. God also intervened and wambui was allowed to live in her rural home by her husband.
God is no respecter persons and will use any vessel that is available for use.
- Back To Top -Times were hard. I had been suspended from work and I had started a business which was not doing too well. At the same time my husband who was unsaved by then was drinking heavily and is common to humans I put all the blame on him.
I had recently joined a Pentecostal church from a mainstream church and was quick to make friends. One day, the women of the church went for a seminar in another church and as we were going home I found myself sitting next to this rather quiet woman.
After the usual small talk she opened up to me and told me about her problems with her mother whom she claimed hated her and her sister and how they would have been dead had it not been for a deliverance ceremony done for them. She went on to tell me that the whole problem with our church was that the pastor did not believe in deliverance.
Warming up to my new friend I told her of my problems. 'this problems will not go away by prayer alone, you need deliverance of some sort, I can get in touch with the lady who delivered us and all your problems will be over' I pleaded her to look for the lady urgently as I needed to get rid of my problems.
Two days later she came to my shop and said that I was to go to a certain house very early the next morning. I was also not to tell anyone as this would interfere with the process. I woke up early the next morning, gave a vague excuse to my husband and went in search of 'deliverance'.
In the house I was told to kneel down and shut my eyes. The lady had a paper from which she read the prayers and asked me to repeat after her. I was asked to call certain thing or spirits in my life visualize them then ask them to leave. Call others to come to me. The whole thing did not sound evil but I was quite uncomfortable about it.
I went home having been 'delivered' and I thought now I will surely have peace, prosperity and so on. I was quite unprepared for what was to happen the following day, the next and the next. Doors would open and shut by themselves, I could hear someone walking on our roof with high heals to and fro, stones were thrown on the roof. Surprisingly enough my husband never heard all this but my house girl and I heard them. The following day she packed and left.
'for how long will let this continue?' I asked myself at 3.00 am in the morning. I determined enough was enough and at around 4.30 am, not caring about being mugged or killed I walked the 2 kilometer stretch to my pastor's house. The pastor was shocked to hear the knock and when he opened I could not talk, I just cried uncontrollably. He called his wife who tried to comfort me in vain. Finally after a long time I was able to tell the story. The pastor said that we would fast for two days and he would come and anoint our house. I was finally delivered from the attacks of the enemy.
Why do I tell you this? That you should be a ware of evil associations Phil 3:2 tells us to be aware of 'Dogs and evil workers beware of the mutilations. Stick to the doctrines and teaching of your pastor. Gal 1:8 , 9 'But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received let him be accursed. Remember that many will be used by the enemy to mislead the elect. 1Tim 4:1 says 'now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons'
Eph 6:18 says 'praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
